Composable Commerce PoC: Legacy Backend, Modern Frontend
- Scale
- Global D2C site, multi-region, multi-currency
- Problem
- Aging storefront blocking frontend iteration. Replacing the SAP Commerce backend was off the table — too much risk, too much business logic embedded.
- Decision
- Built a composable frontend layer (Alokai) on top of the existing SAP Commerce OCC APIs, with no backend modifications. Kept the platform stable while decoupling the presentation layer.
- Outcome
- Delivered working PoC in under two weeks. Client moved from evaluation to active modernization planning. Frontend team can now iterate independently of commerce platform release cycles.
-
Revenue Attribution Integration: Commerce + Marketing Data
- Scale
- Mid-market D2C brand, significant email revenue channel
- Problem
- Marketing team had no visibility into which campaigns drove actual orders. SAP ECC held the transaction data; Emarsys held the campaign data. No connection between them.
- Decision
- Architected an event-driven integration between SAP ECC and Emarsys using SAP Cloud Platform Integration. Modeled order events to map back to campaign touchpoints, enabling attribution at the individual order level.
- Outcome
- Enabled precise marketing ROI measurement for the first time. Marketing team could see revenue by campaign, channel, and segment. Budget allocation decisions moved from intuition to data.
-
B2C Commerce Platform for National Grocer
- Scale
- National US retailer, high-traffic seasonal peaks, complex product catalog with perishable and non-perishable SKUs
- Problem
- No direct-to-consumer digital channel. The business needed to compete with online grocery delivery without a platform to stand on.
- Decision
- Architected and led SAP Hybris B2C implementation. Prioritized cart and checkout performance above all else — grocery customers abandon at the slightest friction. Built in capacity for peak seasonal traffic from day one.
- Outcome
- Launched a functioning national digital commerce channel. Platform handled peak traffic events without degradation. Established the technical foundation for ongoing digital commerce investment.
-
B2B Pharma Commerce: Complex Catalog, Regulated Orders
- Scale
- Pharmaceutical distributor, large B2B customer base, compliance-sensitive ordering process
- Problem
- Manual ordering processes unable to scale. Regulatory requirements created complexity that off-the-shelf B2B commerce configurations couldn't handle.
- Decision
- Architected custom SAP Hybris B2B implementation with order approval workflows, customer-specific pricing, and compliance guardrails built into the order flow. Integrated with SAP ECC for real-time inventory and pricing data.
- Outcome
- Replaced manual processes with automated, compliant digital ordering. Customers could self-serve on routine orders. Order errors dropped significantly. Sales team shifted time from order entry to customer relationships.
-
Oracle-to-MySQL Migration for Live B2B Commerce Site
- Scale
- Manufacturing client, B2B commerce site in active production use
- Problem
- Oracle database licensing costs were significant and growing. The migration needed to happen with zero downtime — the site was the primary order channel.
- Decision
- Phased migration with parallel-run period. Extensive query analysis upfront to identify Oracle-specific SQL that needed rewriting for MySQL compatibility. Cutover during low-traffic window with immediate rollback capability staged.
- Outcome
- Completed migration with no downtime. Licensing costs reduced substantially. Site performance improved — MySQL query planner handled the specific workload better than Oracle on the existing hardware.
